The Royal Palace of Gödöllő is one of central Hungary’s mostly visited attractions outside the capital. The Palace covering 2000 square meters is currently being renovated by Reneszánsz Zrt. The huge project which is said to cost 1 Millard 660 million started on 1 July 2009 with renovations of 2 wings and the final steps in the renovation of the Beer vault. The reconstruction of the 2 wings, which in the past functioned as a set of rooms for the royal children, will enable the Palace to extend its scope of functions. The Gisela Wing will hold future exhibitions thereby increasing the size of the overall exhibition space of the Palace, whereas the Rudolph Wing will provide more space for museum activities, as well as for temporary exhibitions together with an interactive show place. The façade of the Wings is expected to be finished by the middle of November. Besides the Elisabeth- Terrace and the Stairs will be restored, as well as the Main House will be alterred and become a place being more comfortable to visit.
     Parallel to the reconstruction of some parts of the Palace the Park,  which is considered as a natural conservation area , is being renewed as well. When injured and dry-rotten trees were found in the Park, there was a drive to recapture the Parks’ beauty and royal atmosphere which, after the II. World War it seemed to have lost.  The FŐKERT Parkfenntartó-Kertészeti és Szolgáltató Kft which oversees the renovations proposes to embellish the Gardens by planting 174 trees, 50. 000 perpetual and 10000 pieces of bush. Due to the Park’s revitalization, fountains, promenades will be built too.
    The Park of the Castle will reach its old, royal magnificence again over 52000 square kilometers. Thanks to the additional innovates waxe the Castle even more a place to be for children and families, furthermore every lions and services will be available for handicapped people alike.
    The innovation of the Castle from the resources of the European Union in the frame of the New Hungary Development Plan directed by the Nemzeti Fejlesztési Ügynökség /National Developing Agency/ and the contribution of the Pro Regio Közhasznú Nonprofit Ltd.
The complete renovations are estimated to be finished by the spring of 2010.
